WAUBUN CITY COUNCIL
SPECIAL MEETING
TUESDAY MAY 23, 2006 - 6 PM
WAUBUN COMMUNITY CENTER

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Bill Eck at 6 PM.
Members present: Jean Horack, Thomas Bement, Milo Winter, Eugene Moore and Mayor Bill Eck. Absent: none.

Staff present: Germaine Riegert

Delegations: Ted Holl

Mayor Eck stated that the purpose of this special meeting was to review the current status of City finances. Clerk Riegert presented copies of budget vs. actual for the year to date and for the prior year period. A comparison Balance Sheet was reviewed as well as anticipated and known revenues and expenses that will be coming up in the remaining seven months of the current fiscal year.

The Council reviewed the Water and Sewer collections reports. Many people are more than 3 months past due. It was the consensus of the Council that ALL bills 4or more months past due will be given a specific time to bring their accounts up to date or the water will be disconnected and reconnection and deposits may become a reality.

The purchase of the John Deere Back Hoe was reviewed. The purchase contract was reviewed and Gene Moore was delegated to go to John Deere in Fargo to see what it would cost us to get out of the purchase contract. He will report back to the regular June meeting.

City streets have become a real issue. There are large potholes and frost boils everywhere. This will be discussed with the contractors who will be doing the repairs on HWY 113 this summer. It is hoped that we can find some funds to get the worst of them dug out and filled in.

$41,000 worth of CD’s had been redeemed so far in 2006. If the payments for taxes and local governments allocations (LGA’S) come as scheduled it should not be necessary to do more.

No further questions were asked. The meeting was adjourned at 7 PM on a motion by Bement, seconded by Horack and unanimously approved
