Friday, May 14, 2010
The 2010 race season started at Norman County Raceway Friday night! For the first time, racing at NCR is on Friday nights after five seasons of racing on Thursday nights at 3/8 mile dirt track in Ada, Minnesota.
A crowd of over 600 and 82 cars made their way to the "season opener" after two weeks of rain outs. Wet grounds had this weeks race in question as of Friday morning. Ultimate Race Promotions worked feverishly throughout the day to get the track and pit area ready for racing. The track had a few bumps and rough spots in the 1st and 4th corners, but, all-in-all, considering the two weeks or rain, the track was in good shape.
Mike Roy of Ada won the first feature of the season by winning the 4-Cylinders. Josh Abrahamson of Moorhead won the Mod Four Feature. The caution filled ( 10 caution flags) MidWest Mod Feature was won by Austin Arneson.
Ken Crane of Mahnomen won his heat and the feature race in the Pure Stocks. Defending track point champion Dustin Strand won the 20 lap, 22 car Modified Feature. Strand started in row five and took the lead with six laps remaining.
All results will be posted on the NCR official website, ncraceway.com.
